To Eat is to Become

'To Eat is to Become' is a hypothetical installation that investigates consumption as a means of metamorphosis. It's a translation of the lady bugs enviroment and its food into a human edible cake, this connects the insect to us-beings, so that we can experience the life of a lady bug. The video plays on loop showing the transformation of the human slowly turning into a lady bug once consuming the lady bugs food. Videography was filmed in Central Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. A menu pamphlet created alongside the video shows the visual translation of the ingredients of the cake, which consist of the fauna that lady bugs live in, the flowers they are attracted to and there temporary food sources if natural food is unavailable.
